AM I BRIAN ATENE?
One day in 2006, a video appeared on YouTube featuring a young Julliard thespian named Brian Atene. It was a copy of his home-made 1985 audition tape for Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket.” The video immediately went viral.
Within 48 hours, another video surfaced of an older Brian Atene, which was picked up by BoingBoing, Defamer and countless other blogs, and got over 100,000 hits by the end of the week.

PUPPET PROPOSAL GAG ON LIFETIME TV
In 2005, Lifetime TV launched a promotion called “Marry Me Moments.” A half-dozen starstruck lovers from across the nation were flown to Vegas to tape on-air proposals to their intendeds. I decided to have some fun with this and so…
This dork was born.
Below exists a YouTube site chronicling the entire faux affair, from audition video, to on-air proposal (with Wayne Newton!), climaxing with the gal’s on-air reaction. (My “fiance” is played by my good friend and talented actress, Sara Vidar.)
