Riding a train through other people’s back yards

In Briar's Dad on July 1, 2009 at 4:47 am

Briar and I took the Gold Line from Union Station to Pasadena.  Unlike the other subways I’ve ridden, which either go underground, through mainly deserted commercial districts, or along the median of the freeway, this train charges through dense residential areas.   You look out the window and see folks checking their mailboxes, locking their front doors, working in their lawns, etc.

It’s a strange ride.  Unless you’re asleep.
